What is a Professional Headshot and How Does It Differ from a Regular Portrait?

Let me explain how a professional headshot differs from a regular portrait, how I shoot it, and how you can use it in your personal and business life.

Nowadays, there are hardly any professions that do not require an online presence. Whatever you do, your face is your business card. A professionally taken headshot that shows you at your best is the primal tool for creating the best first impression. A tool that will work for you 24 hours a day. How? Let me explain.

1. Lighting Technique

During a headshot session, I use continuous lighting placed close to the face. This creates a more three-dimensional image and illuminates the entire iris, making the eyes more expressive.

2. No Acting Skills Needed

Headshots are often associated with actors' portfolios, but you don't need any special acting skills to get a good headshot. Don't worry, just follow my instructions. I assure you, you'll enjoy both the process and the result.

3. Neutral Backgrounds

I shoot headshots against solid backgrounds—black, white, or gray. A neutral background doesn't distract from the face and enhances its expressiveness.

4. Guidance During the Session

You don't need to worry about how you look, where to look, or what to do during the photo session. I will be your mirror and won't miss any detail. Showing you at your best is the photographer's responsibility. Of course, a little help from your side wouldn't hurt 😎

5. Selecting the Best Shots

After the photo session, I won't leave you alone with hundreds of photos taken. I will help you choose the most successful ones that will be genuinely useful for your goals or just the ones you really like. These selected photos will then go through final processing.

6. Natural Retouching

Don't worry, I don't do heavy retouching that alters the photo beyond recognition. The editing is done just enough to be unnoticeable: I remove minor flaws and any unwanted distracting details.

7. Quick Delivery

You will receive the final photos within 1-2 days in the desired format, ready to be used immediately: in a portfolio, on a website, for a resume, on social media, for article illustration — anywhere.

8. Flexible Pricing

I don't sell package deals to avoid you paying for unnecessary items and I don't limit you by shooting time, number of outfits, or background options. The final cost will include the session fee plus the cost of selected photos.
